Back pain (also known "dorsalgia") is pain felt in the back that may originate from the muscles, nerves, bones, joints or other structures in the spine.
The pain may have a sudden onset or it can be a chronic pain, it can be felt constantly or intermittently, stay in one place or refer or radiate to other areas. It may be a dull ache, or a sharp or piercing or burning sensation. The pain may be felt in the neck (and might radiate into the arm and hand), in the upper back, or in the low back, (and might radiate into the leg or foot), and may include symptoms other than pain, such as weakness, numbness or tingling.
Back pain is one of humanity's most frequent complaints. In the U.S., acute low back pain (also called lumbago) is the fifth most common reason for all physician visits. About nine out of ten adults experience back pain at some point in their life, and five out of ten working adults have back pain every year.

Why Do Chiropractors Want You to Keep Coming Back?

How many chiropractors does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Only one, but it takes about 10 visits.

One of the things that separates all the conservative intervention from the quick-fix world of drugs and surgery, the number of necessary treatments. Physical therapy, massage, acupuncture and chiropractic treatment as a follow-up care and re-evaluation for a person to realize the full potential of the treatment. This article focuses on the aspects and phases of chiropractic care and why is it necessary to follow-up visits.

Any problem, regardless of the severity, location or chronicity of a natural course of resolution. ? Some conditions will be 4-6 weeks for the body to heal without intervention such as a sprain, strain or a few fractures. ? Other terms ending in death or permanent disability, if no intervention is used, such as cancer. ? This concept is known as: Natural History. ? The objectives of the physician health treatment are: 1) reduction of total treatment time relative to a condition of the natural history 2) changed the natural history of conditions which are not better or worse, when it alone, and 3) to the symptoms the condition of the body heals. In this context, Chiropractic is no different than any other method of health.

Most people start seeing a chiropractor because they have a certain degree of pain. ? Perhaps that is their problem is acute, which means that they come and recently the symptoms are often at peak intensity. ? Some see the chiropractor because they have problems, Subacute caused by the acute phase, but there are still some persistent pain or disability. ? Others see the chiropractor for chronic pain that does not seem to improve or re-often for months and even years. ? It is a small percentage of people who have no symptoms, but want to use Chiropractic care to make them healthy and prevent potential problems.

Regardless ot the reason for seeing a chiropractor, there are stages of the supply needed to support a person to overcome what they are, the challenge and return to full, symptom-free health. ? The first phase focuses on the care of a person to help reduce its symptoms. ? It is not uncommon for someone to leave after the first chiropractic visit for each type of injury with the intensity of their symptoms reduced by at least half. ? For many people, their primary concern: getting rid of the pain. ? Subsequent treatments are usually less and less, until the symptoms, there is no pain, numbness, tingling, restriction in the range of movement, etc.? Treatments at this stage it may be at a frequency of 2-3 times per week.

The second phase of care is corrective action, if the patient and the chiropractor works to improve the function of problem areas. ? For example, it can cause an imbalance of muscle strength, recurrent restriction of movement or reflexive postural challenges which must be corrected for a long-term recovery. ? Treatments in this phase are less frequent than the acute care (every 7-14 days).

The third phase of care is rehabilitation. ? Rehabilitation focuses on ensuring that the problem is completely healed and in a manner that the tissue and the nervous system back to a point where a person back to their full function, if not better. ? The treatment is similar to spectrum for corrective action and may even care at the same time. ? Most rehabilitation work is carried out by the patient at home in the form of exercises, the chiropractor will be made during the visits.

Finally, care in the Wellness-phase, in which the patient is asked to be treated on a regular but less frequent (every 4-6 weeks). ? This care is to reduce the likelihood that injuries occur and the treatment of problems early to reduce the overall healing time. ? Wellness care is part of a healthy lifestyle, such as exercise, healthy eating and good hygiene. ? Research has shown that this approach applies to the reduction of the amount of disability that people, when they were injured.

Most people are only thinking about the pain when they seek treatment. ? With the goal of chiropractic is much greater. The goal is to help you fully back from an injury or condition. ? While it is possible to completely pain free after a visit, no medical intervention, chiropractic or someone else can be done by complete healing in one visit. ? To answer the question: Why chiropractors want you to keep coming back? ? The answer is that the chiropractor understands what is necessary to help you heal completely and then the highest level of health throughout the life span.
